Remarks

In its original form this corpus was compiled under the direction of Prof. Douglas Biber at the University of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, its aim being a balanced documentation of various textual genres in British and American English since ca. 1650. The material - amounting to a total of about 1.7 million words - has been used by many scholars for a wide variety of investigations on recent linguistic change and change in discourse and genre conventions.
